Landon Powell’s Celebrity Youth Baseball Camp is back by demand! This will be the second year for this Donors On The Diamond event. This camp will run in conjunction with the Donors On The Diamond event at Flour Field. The camp is designed for players aged 7-12 years of age and will run from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the Donors on the Diamond event which begins at 5 PM. Players will be grouped by age and ability. The purpose of this camp is to ensure that each child receives instruction in baseball fundamentals in an atmosphere that is constructive and fun. The unique combination of major and minor league baseball stars, as well as professional instructors, promises to create an unforgettable experience for every child.
Powell, a 2004 graduate of the University of South Carolina and major league baseball player, is a recipient of tissue donations as a result of his two ACL surgeries. He also has a rare liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis, that will eventually require him to have a liver transplant. This condition led Landon and his wife Allyson, who make their permanent home in her native Greenville, S.C., to take up the cause of organ, eye and tissue donation. Donors on the Diamond is their brainchild.
